Early NYC experiences...

Here are a few things we learned early on after moving to NYC.
Keep these tips in mind whether you are living in
or just visiting this great city!

1. Watch out for puddles on rainy evenings.
It really is like in cartoons: when a car drives by, water soaks you!

2.  If you are not careful, your picture could bear an eerie resemblance to a subway ad...

3. Always make sure you have comfortable, yet stylish, shoes.

4.  As long as it only takes up as much space as you do, it's ok to bring it on the subway.

5.  When in Little Italy, two cannolis are better than one.

6.  Even "fire-proof" buildings can experience fires and smoke.

7.  Make sure that you are always prepared for the weather.

8.  If your dog feels prepared for inclement weather, he may experience nirvana.

9. Make sure your travelling companion makes it through the door when you do
(or knows what stop to get off at!).

10.  You can still decorate for various holidays.

11.  Make sure your apartment has an oven large enough to cook a 20-lb turkey, if you plan on hosting dinner parties
(or cooking once in a while).

12.  Spontaneous music can happen anywhere, even in a fancy restaurant
(but is more likely to happen on the subway)!

13. There are other great places to hang out on New Year's Eve besides Times Square.

 14. No amount of fur can keep you warm if your midriff is still exposed on a cold day.

15. If your dog is prepared for inclement weather he may feel like that kid in "A Christmas Story."

16. Make sure your paycheck is big enough to cover the NYC grocery prices
(or recognize that "eating out" or "delivery" is sometimes just as economical as cooking).

And finally, in the hustle-and-bustle of this amazing city, remember to stop every once in a while
to enjoy the beauty all around you!

Welcome to NYC!

Welcome to my blog! After I moved to NYC this past summer, I occasionally posted some of my adventures on Facebook. I got such a fun response from friends and family across the country, asking for me to keep posting about our day-to-day experiences here, that I thought I would document it on this blog. I promise that every single bit of information about our experiences is posted truthfully. As my old boss used to say, "You can't make this stuff up!" Enjoy!
